The story of The Snow Queen (1844) can no longer be told in the same way, because climate change has called its very existence into question.
La Regina Senza Nevi – The Snowless Queen, alongside the story of friendship between Gerda and Kay, depicts the devastating decline of our beautiful blue planet, still under the yoke of the powerful, in an era of conquest, massive exploitation of raw materials, and power and domination over others.
Through movement, minimalist sets, measured dialogue, and magical projections, we’ll follow Gerda on her journey to find her friend, discovering that it is not Kay who is the treasure to be saved, but the kingdom of the Snow Queen, who is unable to rule a world that is disappearing due to global warming.
If theater is a place of possibilities, dreams, and magic, it is also a place of social critique; if *The Queen Without Snow* is a heartfelt and magical story for children, it is also an authentic and profound ethical, civic, and ecological interpretation of the abyss that we are all—without exception—peering into.
